Lucky Winners of “Vrikshabandhan” felicitated by Forest Department

Chandigarh: 6th August, 2020: Department of Forests and Wildlife, Chandigarh has announced the winners of Vrikshabandhan Lucky Draw held on the occasion of Rakshabandhan. Vrikshabandhan was a campaign in which more than 1000 participants tied Rakhi on the trees and took the pledge to conserve the nature. “Vrikshabandhan” was organized as a part of the ongoing Van Mahotsava campaign, underlining the department’s purpose to “Save Trees”.  The campaign saw a great number of participants who sent in their images for a chance to get them, space in the Department’s newsletter “The Jungle Book” and Mrs. Seema Rani, Principal, Government Model Senior Secondary School in Dhanas, Chandigarh, Prof. Binu Dogra, Principal, Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector- 42, Chandigarh, Dr.Ranjana Sharma, Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector- 42 Chandigarh & Sh. Vivek Sharma were the Lucky Winners. The other Lucky Winners are Sh. Chand Shekhar, Sh. Varinder Singh and Sh. Ravi Kumar.

 Lucky winners picked through a draw held in the presence of Sh.Debendra Dalai, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forest and Dr. Abdul Qayum, Deputy Conservator of Forests, were called to the Paryavaran Bhawan to collect their prizes.

 While talking about the initiative Sh. Dalai said, “we are delighted to receive the kind of response Vrikshabandhan had because it gives a sense of relief & like-mindedness between the department & general public towards conservation of nature which further motivates us to come up different such activities in future as well. The present to winners is a small token of appreciation to a couple of individuals but we are thankful to each and everyone who tied rakhis & took pledge of conservation of trees.”

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. The campaign was held for three days in which Day 1 was dedicated for Booth Round and Day 2 & 3 were planned for door to door visit to immunize all children of Chandigarh in this age group with Oral Polio drops. A total of 1, 00, 236 children were immunized with oral polio drops during pulse polio activity and 929 teams visited 2, 65, 042 Houses and immunized Children with oral polio drops on day 2 and 3. “Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
