COVID19 WAR ROOM DIRECTIONS

Chandigarh. 02nd September, 2020.Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, Sh. VP Singh Badnore today presided over War Room meeting.  The meeting was attended by Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser to the Administrator, and Sh. Sanjay Beniwal, Director General of Police at Punjab Raj Bhawan.  Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary (Home), Sh. KK Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Deputy Commissioners of Mohali & Panchkula, Director-PGIMER, Director Health Services & Director Principal, GMCH through Video Conferencing. WAR ROOM DIRECTIONS 1.Dr. Jagat Ram, Director, PGIMER stated that there are 170 Covid patients in Nehru Hospital Extension, out of which 57 belong to Chandigarh, 61 to Punjab, 31 to Haryana and 10 to Himachal Pradesh.  He also stated that they have tested 734 samples, out of which 144 were found positive. Among the positive samples, 98 belong to Chandigarh.  Dr. BS Chavan, Director Principal, GMCH stated that they tested 332 samples, out of which 64 were found positive.  Dr. G. Dewan, Director Health Services stated that they have conducted 423 covid tests, out of which 117 were found positive.  He also stated that 57,538 persons have registered for Digital Health Cards. 2.Deputy Commissioner, Mohali stated that they have 1,792 active cases.  Deputy Commissioner, Panchkula stated that they have 922 active cases and Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh stated that they have 1,939 active cases. 3.Sh. KK Yadav, Deputy Commissioner (In-charge) stated that 14,594 challans have been issued for various violations; such as not wearing masks and social distancing. 4.Sh. Sanjay Kumar Jha, Secretary Personnel stated that the typing test being taken by Panjab University for selecting employees of UT Administration had been suspended due to covid-19.  The university authorities will take appropriate decision on the matter shortly. 5.Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh focused on taking care of vulnerable patients to keep the mortality rate low.  He also directed that the complaints being received from various patients and persons in Control Room should be attended to urgently.  It must be ensured that persons with symptoms are immediately transferred to hospitals for medical treatment, without any delay. 6.It was decided that inter-state bus operations should be resumed at the earliest convenient.  Similarly, the Mandi presently being operated from Sector 17 should now go back to Sector 26 and function with necessary precautions and proper sanitization. 7.It was decided to discontinue odd-even closure of shops in congested markets w.e.f. 04/09/2020.  The onus of maintaining social distancing and ensuring mask wearing will be on shop owners. 8.It was decided that the Apni Mandis will not be operated, till further orders.  However, Organic Markets can function with necessary precautions near Nagar Van. Chief Conservator of Forests, will ensure proper social distancing and sanitization. 9.The Administrator appealed to the citizens, Market Associations, Volunteers and Municipal Councillors to advise people to immediately approach the Administration for medical help, in case of initial covid symptom.  Adequate beds, medicines and facilities are available for treatment of corona patients. 10.The Administrator directed Sub-Divisional Magistrates to keep watch over their areas and find out/report symptomatic persons, if any, for immediate covid check-up.  Early detection will save valuable lives. 11.The Administrator directed ramping of IEC activities to make people aware about following strict hygiene and take precautions to prevent infection.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
