Chandigarh tops the chart amongst UTs
Also emerges on top in Zero hunger indices, Quality education and Economic growth
Chandigarh,3rd June, 2021:The government’s top think tank NITI Aayog today launched the third edition of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) India Index and Dashboard 2020-21.
Noting that the country’s overall SDG score has improved by 6 points— from 60 in 2019 to 66 in 2020–21, the Index, which was released by NITI Aayog’s Vice-Chairman Rajiv Kumar in the presence of Member (Health) VK Paul, CEO Amitabh Kant and Adviser (SDG) Sanyukta Samaddar, has placed Kerala at the top of the chart with 75 points on a score of 100.
As the Index was prepared on the basis of 16 identified goals including a host of social, environmental and economic parameters, different states did well on different counts. Tamil Nadu and Delhi have been judged best in dealing with issues relating to poverty. Similarly Kerala and Chandigarh did well to ensure zero hunger indices.
On the good health front, Gujarat and Delhi have been adjudged the best, while in respect of quality education, Kerala and Chandigarh were on the top of the chart. Similarly, on the economic growth count, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh topped the chart.
Among the UTs, Chandigarh with 79 points topped the chart, which was followed by Delhi, Pudducharry and Lakshadweep (68), Andaman & Nicobar (67), J&K and Ladakh (66) and Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu (62).
Chandigarh 10 th August 2017: In compliance of the directions of the Government of India to take steps for improvement of ranking in “Ease of Doing Business’ index, the Chandigarh Administration has notified Chandigarh Building Rules (Urban) 2017. The existing building byelaws/orders/notifications issued from time to time have been reviewed bya committee. Since amendments to the building Rules were never compiled before, therefore, comparative analysis of existing building byelaws applicable in Chandigarh was done viz-a-viz Haryana Building Code 2016, TCPO Model Building Byelaws 2016 and NBC 2017. This exercise has simplified the building Rules as each and every rule has been tabulated and individual chapters including Commercial, Residential, Industrial, Institutional, IT Park, High Rise buildings etc. The report had been earlier approved by the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh after seeking views from general public.
