Chandigarh.10th August,2021: Chandigarh Administration is making continuous efforts in monitoring the air quality of the city. As a step forward, ‘Continuous Ambient Air Quality Monitoring Station (CAAQMS)’ installed at Govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Sector-22, Chandigarh has been inaugurated today by Sh.Dharam Pal, IAS, Adviser, UT Chandigarh in the presence of Sh.Arun Kumar Gupta, IAS, Principal Secretary Environment-cum-Chairman, CPCC, UT Chandigarh and Sh.Debendra Dalai, IFS, Special Secretary Environment & Member Secretary, CPCC, Chandigarh. The CAAQMS has been installed by Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee (CPCC) to monitor various parameters of ambient air quality on real time basis.
The Chief Guest appreciated the efforts made by CPCC in stationing the CAAQMS for the people of the city. Through this system, large Number of parameters can be monitored simultaneously i.e. PM10, PM2.5, CO, SO2, NOX, NH3, O3, Benzene, Xylene, Toluene. This instrument also monitors meteorological parameters like temperature, humidity, rainfall, wind speed, wind direction and solar radiation. Further, this system automatically calculates AQI (Air Quality Index) on the basis of various parameters which will be reflected in display board which is very easy for common man to understand the quality of air.
The function was attended by Dr.Abdul Qayum, IFS, DCF, Sh.Rajiv Tewari, Director Public Relations, UT Chandigarh, School Principal and other officials from the Administration.
Chandigarh 10 th August 2017: In compliance of the directions of the Government of India to take steps for improvement of ranking in “Ease of Doing Business’ index, the Chandigarh Administration has notified Chandigarh Building Rules (Urban) 2017. The existing building byelaws/orders/notifications issued from time to time have been reviewed bya committee. Since amendments to the building Rules were never compiled before, therefore, comparative analysis of existing building byelaws applicable in Chandigarh was done viz-a-viz Haryana Building Code 2016, TCPO Model Building Byelaws 2016 and NBC 2017. This exercise has simplified the building Rules as each and every rule has been tabulated and individual chapters including Commercial, Residential, Industrial, Institutional, IT Park, High Rise buildings etc. The report had been earlier approved by the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh after seeking views from general public.
