Sh.V.P Singh Badnore, Governor Punjab And Administrator,UT Chandigarh Inaugurated Installation Of 325 KWp SPV Power Plants At 12 No. Police Establishments

Chandigarh.11th August,2021: Installation of 325kWp Rooftop Solar Power Plants at 12 No. Police Establishments in Chandigarh was inaugurated today by Sh.V.P. Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh in the presence of Sh.Dharam Pal, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, UTChandigarh along with Sh.Arun Kumar Gupta, IAS, Principal Secretary(Science & Technology & RE), Sh.Sanjay Baniwal, IPS, Director General of Police, UT Chandigarh and Sh.Debendra Dalai, IFS, Director (Science & Technology & Renewable Energy)-cum-CEO, CREST, UT Chandigarh. These Plants have been installed on the rooftop of 12 No. Police Establishments in Chandigarh with a total cost of Rs.1.62 Crore which includes O&M cost for 10 years. The said project was executed by Chandigarh Renewable Energy Science & Technology Promotion Society (CREST). These plants will generate approximately 4,22,500 units of electricity annually and shall help the UT Chandigarh marching towards 100% Renewable Energy Powered. The Chief Guest appreciated the efforts taken by CREST in developing Chandigarh as Model Solar City. He appreciated the lead taken by CREST in installing 45MWp Solar Rooftop Plants on Govt. Buildings as well as Private buildings including residential houses. This solar project shall save the electricity bill of Rs.20.00 Lakhs approximately per annum besides reducing the carbon footprint. The payback period of these solar power systems installed will be approximately 06 years. The function was attended by Sh.Vijay Namdeorao Zade, IAS, Finance Secretary, UT Chandigarh, Sh.Mandip Singh Brar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, UT Chandigarh, Sh.Omvir Singh Bishnoi, IPS, DIG, UT Chandigarh, Sh.Kuldeep Singh Chahal, IPS, SSP, UT Chandigarh, Ms. Manisha Choudhary, IPS, SSP, Sh.Manoj Kumar Meena, IPS, SP, UT Chandigarh, Sh.Ketan Bansal, IPS, SP, UT Chandigarh, Dr.Abdul Qayum, IFS, Additional CEO, CREST, Sh.Rajiv Tewari, DPR, UT and other officials of the Administration.
