Chandigarh, 21st October, 2016:  Today 14 cases of Dengue have been reported from various health institutions which bring the total number of Dengue cases to 662 in the city. No fresh cases of Chickungunya have been reported today. The overall details of 115 cases of Chickungunya detected in Chandigarh is; 34 imported, 31 wrong address and 50 from Chandigarh. To further strengthen the preventive activities, daily fumigation is being carried out along with strengthening of field activities which includes mass awareness, checking of breeding sources like coolers, containers, tyres and other sources. Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management, Catering and Nutrition Organized Flower Arrangement & Bottle Gardening Workshop

Chandigarh, 21st October, 2016:   Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management, Catering and Nutrition, Sector-42D Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, organised a two day Flower Arrangement & Bottle Gardening Workshop facilitated by Smt. Nandita Chaturvedi, Resource Person from “The All India Kitchen Garden Association, New Delhi.” The second day of the workshop commenced at an exhilarating note as Smt. Chaturvedi trained the students about the immaculate techniques of growing plants inside a bottle. She indoctrinated the audience about innovative uses of bottle gardening. “It is rightly said, you are never too old to learn and I feel delighted to be a part of this workshop”, said one of the faculty members from IHM Bangalore. Awareness-cum-Enrollment Camp organized by Indian Red Cross Society

Chandigarh, 21st October, 2016:   Indian Red Cross Society, U.T. Branch, Chandigarh organized an awareness-cum-enrollment Camp today  at Community Centre, Sector 35, Chandigarh in the series of   unique venture   “ Doctor Aapke Dwar - Home Health for Elderly ”   with an aim of providing health care to the elderly at their doorsteps and helping them stay comfortably in their home environment. Smt. Awareness Camp-cum-Quiz competition on Iodine Deficiency Disorders on Global Iodine Deficiency Disorder Day

Chandigarh, 21st October, 2016:  T he National Iodine Deficiency Disorders Control Program Cell, Health Department of Chandigarh launched a week long awareness campaign in the City to create awareness regarding Iodine Deficiency disorders. Students of 5 Government schools were given awareness on this problem. Numerous students were informed about correct use of iodized salt and about various disorders of Iodine Deficiency. In the same week, awareness through advertisement in papers, radio talks, messages on T.V. and advertisement through airing of taped messages on IDD too was done by the Iodine deficiency Disorders Control Program Cell.  Posters were given to each school for displaying at vantage points. Handbills, books and on the spot iodine testing kits too were provided to each school for awareness. Badges on IDD were distributed among children of various schools. Inspection by Food Safety Officers

Chandigarh, 20 th October, 2016: On the orders of Commissioner Food Safety, a joint team of Food Safety Officers Sh. Bharat Kanojia, Sh. Surinder Pal Singh & Sh. Bhaljinder Singh was constituted in lieu of the coming festival season for conducting inspection and sampling of food articles in Chandigarh. Today the team inspected grain market, Sector 26, Chandigarh for the checking the quality of dry fruits and five samples of Almond, Cashew and Walnut were taken from the different shops. The said seized samples have been sent to the Food Analysis Laboratory for analysis & examination.
