9th Arts and Heritage Festival to be held in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 1 st September, 2017: The Department of Cultural Affairs, Chandigarh Administration is organizing the culturally enriching event of 9 th Arts and Heritage Festival from 8 th to 10 th September, 2017 at Tagore Theatre, Chandigarh from 6:30 pm onward. The much awaited event will witness captivating performances by eminent personalities. On 8 th September there would be a performance by Padma Shri Malini Awasthi - an Indian folk singer who sings in Hindi language dialects like Awadhi, Bundelkhandi and Bhojpuri. She was awarded with the civilian honour of Padma Shri by the Government of India in the year 2016. The 2 nd day of the festival will witness a Hasya Kavi Sammelan , wherein eight eminent poets will recite a series of humorous poems full of wit and wisdom that will tickle your funny bone and bring a smile to your face. Chandigarh, 29 th August, 2017: It has been made to appear to the District Magistrate, U.T., Chandigarh that commercial establishment/shopkeepers engaged in the business of Restaurants/Dhabas, Discos, Clubs and Vendors sitting by the road sides and on the public places operating till late in the night are causing annoyance and are disturbing the public peace and tranquility leading to a harmful influence on public order.                     Therefore, Sh. Chandigarh, 24 th  August, 2017:  The Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh is pleased to temporarily assign the charge of the post of Sub-Divisional Magistrate (South), U.T. Chandigarh to Sh. Kishore Kshirsagar Lakshman, IAS (P) and the charge of the post of Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Central) to Sh. S. Asker Ali, IAS (P) for the period from 23.08.2017 to 31.08.2017, relieving Ms. Kriti Garg, IAS of the charges for this period.

Chandigarh, 24 th  August, 2017:  In pursuance of the order dated: 14.12.2016 issued by Hon’ble National Green Tribunal, Principal Bench, New Delhi, in the matter of Khalid Ashraf & Anr. Vs. U.O.I. & Ors. (O.A. No. 384 of 2016) and P.E.T.A., India Vs. U.O.I. & Ors. (O.A. no. 442 of 2016), it has been made to appear to me that a large number of people flying the kites, use synthetic/nylon-glass coated thread popularly known as Pakka thread/Dori and Chinese Maanjha/Dori. These Maanjhas/Doris, being made of synthetic material are non-biodegradable and thus cause serious injuries to human beings, birds and are equally disadvantageous & harmful to the wildlife/environment. Chandigarh, 24 th  August, 2017:  In exercise of powers conferred upon the Home Secretary, U.T. Chandigarh by virtue of   Rule 2 of Temporary Suspension of Telecom Services (Public Emergency of Public Safety) Rules, 2017, Sh. Anurag Agarwal, IAS, Home Secretary, U.T. Chandigarh hereby orders suspension of the 1). Mobile Internet Services (2G/3G/4G/CDMA), 2). All SMS services 3) All dongle services etc. provided on mobile networks  except voice calls  in the territorial jurisdiction of Union Territory of Chandigarh. All Telecom Service Providers in Union Territory of Chandigarh and Principal General Manager BSNL (Telecom District, Chandigarh) are hereby directed to ensure compliance of this order.  This order is issued to prevent any disturbance of peace and public order in the jurisdiction of Union Territory of Chandigarh and shall be in force for the next three days, from the time this suspension order becomes operational.
