Inauguration of Apni Kisan Mandi

Chandigarh, 7th April, 2016: The Adviser of the Administrator, Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS, today inaugurated the Apni/Kisan Mandi at Mela Ground Point, Sector 34, Chandigarh. Among other senior officials of the Chandigarh Administration present during the inauguration were Sh. K. Narsimha, IAS, Secretary Agriculture and Sh. Ajit Balaji Joshi, IAS, Deputy Commissioner cum Secretary State Agricultural Marketing Board, Sh. Bhupesh Chaudhary, IAS, SDM (E) and Sh. Virender Chaudhary, HCS, Joint Secretary, State Agricultural Marketing Board

The first of its kind initiative by the Chandigarh Administration, this step has been taken to promote the sale and purchase of fresh vegetables on the lines of weekly mandi organized by the Punjab Mandi Board.


Addressing the gathering during the inauguration, Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS, congratulated the officers of the administration on this achievement. He further added that this step would add up to the convenience of both the sellers and buyers, who can get together at one common place to buy and sell fresh vegetables. Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS, stated that the ID card system has been introduced to smoothen the process of identification of vendors and farmers who would come to sell their produce at the Mandi. During the inauguration, the Adviser of the Administrator also handed over the ID cards to some of the vendors and farmers present at the occasion.

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. The campaign was held for three days in which Day 1 was dedicated for Booth Round and Day 2 & 3 were planned for door to door visit to immunize all children of Chandigarh in this age group with Oral Polio drops. A total of 1, 00, 236 children were immunized with oral polio drops during pulse polio activity and 929 teams visited 2, 65, 042 Houses and immunized Children with oral polio drops on day 2 and 3. “Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
