Seminar on Organic Farming

Chandigarh, 17 th  October, 2016:  The Chandigarh, State Agricultural Marketing Board, in association with “Kheti Virasat Mission” organized a seminar on “Organic Farming” for observing World Food Day at NITTTR Auditorium, Sector-26, today. The seminar was presided by Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab & Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh and Smt. Kirron Kher, Hon'ble Member of Parliament, U.T. Celebrations for 51 years of Le Corbusier

Chandigarh, 17 th   October, 2016:   To celebrate 51 years of Le Corbusier, the Government Museum and Art Gallery had invited Antonio Puri to showcase his Chandigarh series of paintings and installations. The exhibition entitled “I love the beauty of grey” was on view from 27 th  September to 16 th  October, 2016. The show received tremendous response from the visitors. It has now been extended by a week and will be closing on 23 rd October, 2016. So those who have missed out on the show, do visit the first level of the Government Museum and Art Gallery, Sector 10, Chandigarh. Antonio Puri was born in Chandigarh and raised in the Himalayas where he attended English and International boarding schools. Later he attended the Academy of Art in San Francisco and Coe College in Iowa for a bachelors degree in Art and later a JD degree from the University of Iowa.  He has exhibited his work in solo exhibitions all over the world including ...

Special Drive by the Health Department

Chandigarh, 17 th October, 2016: Today 5 cases of Dengue have been reported from various health institutions (till the release of press note) which brings the total number of Dengue cases to 624 in the city. No fresh case of Chikungunya have been reported today. The overall details of 98 cases of Chikungunya detected in Chandigarh is; 31 imported, 27 wrong address and 40 from Chandigarh. To further strengthen the preventive activities, daily fumigation is being carried out alongwith strengthening of field activities which includes mass awareness, checking of breeding sources like coolers, containers, tyres and other sources. Chandigarh, 14 th October, 2016: Today 17 cases of Dengue has been reported from various health institutions which includes 10 new cases and 7 confirmed amongst probable cases(till the release of press note)which brings the total number of Dengue cases to 595 in the city.4 fresh cases of Chickungunya have been reported by GMCH 32 and PGIMER. The details of 92 cases of chickungunya detected in Chandigarh is; 29 imported, 25 wrong address and 38 from Chandigarh. Inspection and sampling of food articles in UT of Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 14 th October, 2016: As per the order of Commissioner Food Safety, a joint team of Food Safety Officers Sh. Bharat Kanojia, Sh. Surinder Pal Singh & Sh. Bhaljinder Singh was constituted in lieu of the coming festival season for conducting inspection and sampling of food articles in UT of Chandigarh. On 14-10-2016 the team inspected area of Sector 18, Shanti nagar, Pipliwala Town, Mariwala Town of Manimajra, Chandigarh and seized three samples of different sweets. The said seized samples have been sent to the Food Analysis Laboratory for analysis & examination. Two improvement notices were also issued to these shops for not maintaining the hygienic conditions. About 130 kgs of sweets were destroyed which were found exposed to dust & flies and were unfit for human consumption.  The FBOs were also advised not to use any prohibited colours in the preparation of sweets and to use good quality of edible oil and ghee in their preparations.   The Food ...
