Rationalization of the polling stations boundaries and location

Chandigarh, 17 th November, 2016 : It is for the information of the Political Parties and General Public of Chandigarh Parliamentary Constituency that Election Commission of India, New Delhi has conveyed the approval to increase the polling stations to 526 from 517.  Draft Electoral Rolls of this Constituency has been published as per 526 polling stations and are available in the official website of this department i.e. www.ceochandigarh.gov.in .

Chandigarh, 17 th November, 2016: Today 5 cases of Dengue have been reported from various health institutions (till the release of press note) which bring the total number of Dengue cases to 849 in the city. 4 cases of Chikungunya have been reported today out of which all are from Chandigarh. The overall details of 246 cases of Chikungunya detected in Chandigarh is; 45 imported, 53 wrong address and 148 from Chandigarh. To further strengthen the preventive activities, daily fumigation is being carried out alongwith strengthening of field activities which includes mass awareness, checking of breeding sources like coolers, containers, tyres and other sources. Schedule for General elections of the Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 15 th November, 2016 : The Administrator, U.T, Chandigarh, has approved the election programme for holding General elections from 26 wards of the Municipal Corporation of Chandigarh to elect Councillors.  Filing of nominations will commence from 22/11/2016 and the last for the same is 29/11/2016. The nominations will be scrutinized on 30/11/2016. The last date for withdrawal of candidatures is 03/12/2016 and the date of poll if necessary will be 18/12/2016. Before 30/12/2016 the election shall be completed. The hours of poll for the above election shall be from 8.00 A.M. to 5.00 P.M. (without break). The approximate number of voters for the current year is 5, 07,190 which has 2,70,358 males, 2,36,819 females and 13 Third gender. During the election there will be approximately 460 polling booths .

Helpline number for the residents’ concerns/Queries regarding ATM’s/ banks

Chandigarh, 14 th   November, 2016:   Keeping in view of the problems faced by general public of Chandigarh after the denominations of Rs. 500 and Rs.1000 note by Government of India, The Chandigarh Administration has decided to designate a Helpline number 1860-180-2067 to answer the concerns/Queries of the general public relating to availability/withdrawal of currency from the ATM’s/ banks.   It has come to the notice that many bank officials are refusing to exchange the currency of the general public due to no bank account in the concerned bank. It is for the information of the general public that they can exchange currency from any bank even if they don’t have an account in the same. If any bank is refusing to exchange the currency, they can contact the helpline number and necessary help will be provided immediately. The   helpline number will work from 8 AM to 8 PM from Monday to Saturday.
