Expenditure Observer reviews Election Preparedness in Chandigarh Parliamentary Constituency

Chandigarh, 23rd April 2019:  A meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Smt. Amisha S Gupt, IRS to review the election preparedness in the Chandigarh Parliamentary Constituency.  She has been appointed as Expenditure Observer for Chandigarh Parliamentary Constituency by Election Commission of India. Chandigarh, 22nd April 2018: An Orientation Programme for School Principals and Mathematics, Science and Language teachers of UT, Chandigarh was organized by CBSE in collaboration with Education Department, Chandigarh at Delhi Public School, Sector 40-C, Chandigarh. Second Round of training started for Presiding Officers and Polling Officers

Chandigarh, 22nd April, 2019:  With the notification of elections in the Chandigarh Parliamentary Constituency today, the 2nd round of Training for Presiding Officers/Polling Officers commenced at the Auditorium, Government Home Science College, sector-10, Chandigarh. Around 3000 polling personnel have been appointed as presiding and polling officers. One round of training has already been provided to all. Two venues have been selected for the second round of training namely Government Home Science College Sector 10 and Government College sector 42 Chandigarh. A detailed training schedule has been worked out from 22nd April to 30th April wherein hands on training is being imparted to all the officials. Election Preparedness in Chandigarh Parliamentary Constituency

Chandigarh, 23 rd  April 2019:   The Election Commission of India had announced General Elections to Lok Sabha on 10 th  March, 2019 and with the announcement of the Election Programme, the Model Code of Conduct came into force. The General Election to the Lok Sabha for Chandigarh Parliamentary Constituency has been scheduled in the 7 th  Phase. As per the schedule, notification for elections in Chandigarh Parliamentary Constituency has been issued today.  The last date of filing nominations is 29 th  April 2019 and the scrutiny of nominations will be done on 30 th  April 2019. The withdrawal of candidature can be done by 2 nd  May 2019. Chief Electoral Officer reviews preparedness of election training by the Master Trainers

Chandigarh, 16th April, 2019: A review meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Chief Electoral Officer- cum- Finance Commissioner, Sh. Ajoy Kumar Sinha to assess the methodology devised by the Election Department for imparting intensive hands on training  by the Master Trainers for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2019 in Chandigarh. During the meeting, a presentation highlighting the components and functioning of EVM/VVPAT machine, Role of presiding officer and polling officers was delivered. The first round of training of polling personnel's, sector officers, BLOs Micro observers, Nodal officers have already been done. The second round of training will begin from 22 April, 2019. Meeting held with RWA's to maximize SVEEP campaign

Chandigarh, 16th April, 2019:  A meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner cum Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Sh. Mandip Singh Brar with the representatives from Resident Welfare Associations to discuss activities that can be initiated by them under the SVEEP programme.  The meeting aimed at making sure that every person who is eligible to vote registers as a voter before 19th April, 2019 and access their fundamental right to vote on 19 May, 2019. All the representatives participated with full enthusiasm and cleared their queries by putting across different case scenarios and sought clarification from the officers regarding the entire election procedure.
