Promotion of Kala Utsav by the Education Department

Chandigarh, 4 th October, 2016: Kala Utsav is an initiative of MHRD to promote Art in Education. The 2 nd event of this state level extravaganza - Music competition, was organized today at GMSSS- 10 under the hostship of, Principal-cum-Venue Coordinator Mr. Harbir Singh Anand. The chief guest of the event was Mr. Rubinderjit Singh Brar, PCS, Director School Education, Chandigarh Administration who inaugurated the event and gave his best wishes to the participants and the organizers of this event. Mr. Chanchal Singh, DDSE , Ms. Saroj Mittal, DDVE-cum-DDSE (RMSA), Ms. Suman Sharma, DDAE-CUM-Mission coordinator RMSA, Ms. Vinay R. Preventive activities by Health Department for control of Dengue and Chickungunya

Chandigarh, 4 th October, 2016: Over the last two days,  27 cases of Dengue has been reported from various health institutions which includes 18 new cases and 9 confirmed amongst probable cases(till the release of press note)which brings the total number of Dengue cases to 471  in the city.8  fresh cases of Chickungunya have been reported by GMCH 32 and PGIMER. The details of 68 cases of chickungunya detected in Chandigarh is; 20 imported, 19 wrong address and 29 from Chandigarh. To further strengthen the preventive activities, daily fumigation is being carried out alongwith strengthening of field activities which includes mass awareness, checking of breeding sources like coolers, containers, tyres and other sources. Chandigarh, 3 rd October 2016:  It has always been endeavor of the Social Welfare, Women & Child Development Department to give focused attention to different policy issues and on keeping a meaningful thrust on the activities aimed for the welfare and empowerment of the Persons with Disabilities. The Department has been focusing to cover all the persons with probable disability by conducting door to door survey and identifying PwDs who need Disability Certificate, Aid & Appliances and the Department is also providing logistics for such identified PwDs and facilitating them in getting disability identity cards so that they can be linked with the benefits being provided under different social security schemes. Swachhta Pakhwada

Chandigarh, 3 rd October 2016:  As a part of observance of the “Swachhta Pakhwada” in the area of U.T. villages, all the Gram Panchayats organized Gram Sabha meeting today to chalk-out the strategy for the “Swachhta Pakhwada”.  The strategy contains day-wise activities of cleanliness campaign and brings awareness among the rural masses regarding importance of sanitary and clean environment in villages and their surroundings. Wildlife Week Celebrations

Chandigarh, 2 nd October, 2016:  The  Wildlife Week, 2016 was kicked off  by Department of Forests and Wildlife, UT, Chandigarh by the organization of “Nature and Wildlife Trek” on 2 nd October 2016 coinciding with the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi inside Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary.   The Nature and Wildlife Trek started from Nepli and culminated at Kansal Log Hut. The Wildlife Trek was approximately 7.5 Km in length and passing through three Hillocks reaching a maximum height of 1500 feet.  The entry for the Nature and Wildlife Trek was obtained through advertisement in print media as well as through internet. Around 650 people participated in the Trek which includes School Children, General Public and large number of people from Press & Media.  At the conclusion of Trek, a Valedictory function on Wildlife Week Celebrations was organized at Kansal Log Hut in Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary.
