Chandigarh celebrates Halloween with a message- Stages silent rally on the 'Harrows of Plastic' under Plastickatimeup Campaign

Chandigarh, 31st October 2019:  In a bid to sensitize people with the ghastly implications of the use of Single Use Plastic on the environment, a Halloween Rally on the theme of 'The Harrows of Plastic' was organised jointly by the Public Relations Department, Environment Department and the Government College of Arts. The rally was a part of the plastickatimeup campaign organised by Department of Public Relations to sensitize the public about the harms of single use plastic. Sh. Debendra Dalai, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forest flagged off the rally that moved from Lake Club Chandigarh towards Sukhna lake. The Rally was organised at the Sukhna Lake in evening to ensure that the message can be communicated to a greater audience. Vigilance awareness Week by Chandigarh Administration

Chandigarh. 29 th October, 2019. Vigilance awareness Week, commenced from 28.10.2019 to 02.11.2019 on the theme "Integrity- a way of life". Celebrations of Diwali and 550th Parkash Parv begins with Light and Sound Show at Sukhna Lake

Chandigarh, 25th October 2019: The Governor of Punjab & Administrator U.T., Chandigarh inaugurated the light and sound projection show at Sukhna Lake to mark the celebrations of Diwali and 550th Parkash Parv. Following activities were   organised as part of celebrations ➢ The intelligent light of illumination of Sukhna Lake ➢ Violin and saxophone show on moving Boat ➢ Audio Visual show on 550th Prakash Parv ➢ Ramayana Show on water jet screen ➢ Crackers show on water screen through projector The complete show comprising of above events was of 30 minutes of duration approximately which repeated thrive with a gap of 15 minutes after. Registered Households get Subsidy for October under DBT Scheme

Chandigarh, 24 th October 2019: The DBT Scheme for foodgrains has been implemented from the month of September, 2015 in UT Chandigarh and Territory became the first UT/State to implement such scheme in the country. Under this scheme, the food subsidy in the form of cash is being transferred directly into Aadhar seeded bank accounts of the eligible households/ beneficiaries based on their entitlement for foodgrains under the NFSA and the beneficiaries are free to purchase foodgrains of their choice and from any place. The main aim of this Direct Benefit Transfer scheme is to bring transparency and terminate any kind of pilferage from distribution of food grains by crediting subsidies into bank accounts of the beneficiaries and give freedom to the beneficiaries to purchase foodgrains from the open market as per choice. ‘Plastic ka time up’ Campaign at Government Home Science College

Chandigarh,24th October 2019:The Environment Society, Harita, of Government Home Science College today organized ‘Plastic Free Chandigarh Campaign’ to create awareness about the ill-effects of the use of plastics. The students highlighted the toxic chemicals that leach out of plastic and harmful effects of its exposure to human health. In sync with the National/ Chandigarh Administration initiative on ban on one time use plastic, student volunteers sensitized the people of the better alternatives than plastic that can be used in our day to day lives. The occasion was also marked by the poster making and slogan writing competitions in which more than 100 students participated. Foundation stone laid for community centres in Sector 21 & Ram Darbar

Chandigarh, 21st October 2019: Member of Parliament, Chandigarh, Smt. Kirron Kher laid the foundation stone of modern community centre each in Sector 21 and Ram Darbar today which are reconstructed after dismantling the old structures. These community centres would be the best of its kind in the city covering 20552 sq.ft.area in Sector-21 and 18413 Sq.ft in Ram Darbar.These would be constructed at a cost of   approximately Rs 5.80 crore in Sector 21 and Rs.5.29 Crore in Ram Darbar. The community centres will have a main hall, an office, a kitchen, and separate toilets for men and women, Library and Gymnasium. Mayor Chandigarh, Sh.
